Summer Sizzle Burpee Challenge

Challenge Overview

Ladies and gentlemen, gym enthusiasts, and those who just really enjoy a good laugh at the expense of their own suffering, we present to you the ultimate test of summer fitness and fortitude: the Summer Sizzle Burpee Challenge! Get ready to transform your beach body and make your sweat worthwhile because starting July 1st, 2024, we’re diving headfirst into a burpee bonanza that will leave you drenched, shredded, and possibly reconsidering your life choices.

For 27 grueling, yet gloriously transformative days, you'll progressively increase your burpee count, pushing yourself to new heights of fitness and determination. The goal? To conquer a high rep count of burpees by the end of the challenge and complete our grand finale: 150 burpees for time on July 27th, 2024. Whether you participate individually or form a team to share the pain, this challenge promises to provide nothing but fun!

How Can I Participate?

Every day, complete the prescribed number of burpees! That's it! These burpees can be any style and can be broken up any way you'd like throughout the duration of the day. As long as you complete the prescribed number by the end of the day, you did it! (Burpees performed in class count toward your daily total!) Each day you complete, log a score in the Members App to receive credit. Every participant who completes and logs a score for all 27 days will receive a sticker at the end and get entered into a raffle to win a nifty prize!

Why Burpees?

Because they’re the exercise we love to hate! Burpees work multiple muscle groups, improve cardiovascular endurance, and torch calories like nobody’s business. Plus, there’s something satisfying about throwing yourself on the ground and getting back up repeatedly.

Daily Burpee Goals

Week 1: Ramp-Up Week

Let's ease into the madness, shall we?

  • Day 1: 20 burpees - Just a warm-up, right?
  • Day 2: 25 burpees - Feeling the burn yet?
  • Day 3: 30 burpees - It's getting real.
  • Day 4: 35 burpees - Almost there... not really.
  • Day 5: 40 burpees - Breaking a sweat now!
  • Day 6: 45 burpees - Half a century tomorrow!
  • Day 7: 50 burpees - Congratulations, you're a burpee machine!

Week 2: Push Week

Now the real fun begins.

  • Day 8: 55 burpees - More burpees, more fun!
  • Day 9: 60 burpees - Sixty shades of sweaty.
  • Day 10: 65 burpees - Powering through.
  • Day 11: 70 burpees - Feeling the challenge.
  • Day 12: 75 burpees - Three-quarters of the way to 100!
  • Day 13: 80 burpees - You got this.
  • Day 14: 85 burpees - Almost at triple digits!

Week 3: Endurance Week

Time to test your stamina.

  • Day 15: 90 burpees - Welcome to the big leagues.
  • Day 16: 95 burpees - Almost at the century mark.
  • Day 17: 100 burpees - You did it! But wait, there's more.
  • Day 18: 105 burpees - Over the hill.
  • Day 19: 110 burpees - Feeling unstoppable.
  • Day 20: 115 burpees - Keep pushing!
  • Day 21: 120 burpees - You're a burpee beast!

Week 4: Peak Week

Time to reach the summit.

  • Day 22: 125 burpees - The final countdown.
  • Day 23: 130 burpees - Keep climbing.
  • Day 24: 135 burpees - Almost there.
  • Day 25: 140 burpees - You're in the home stretch.
  • Day 26: Rest Day - You've earned it. Relax, hydrate, and get ready for the grand finale.
  • Day 27: Grand Finale - 150 burpees for time! (Saturday, July 27th, 2024) - It's go time! Channel all your hard work and crush those 150 burpees.

Tips for Surviving the Summer Sizzle Burpee Challenge

  1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! - Think of yourself as a plant: without water, you'll wilt. Keep a bottle handy at all times.
  2. Listen to Your Body - Push yourself, but don’t ignore pain. A little soreness is normal; feeling like you're about to collapse is not.
  3. Team Up - Misery loves company. Plus, your teammates can cheer you on and commiserate over post-burpee soreness.
  4. Fuel Up - Eat balanced meals to keep your energy levels high. Protein, carbs, and fats are your friends.
  5. Stretch It Out - Don’t skip the cool-down stretches. Your muscles will thank you later.
